In light of Women’s Day celebrated annually on the 8th of March, historian Dr. Yehya Abdel Qader shed light on the position of the ancient Egyptian woman, assuring that thousands of years ago she had used to enjoy a great position in the society and had occupied important jobs.
Over the phone to (Breakfast Show), he clarified that women were very cherished and respected by men, indicating that they were called by beautiful names of roses and gems.
He added that women played vital roles in ancient Egypt; they used to hold leading positions in various fields; they were priests at the temples, musicians, singers, doctors, etc. Illustrating his point, he said they were even goddesses such as Isis who had a story of heroism and was worshipped not only all over Egypt but also throughout the Greco-Roman world.
