Dr. Mostafa Hadhoud, Professor of Petrochemicals, said that Egypt became a hub of energy in the region of Africa and the Middle East (ME), after reaching sufficiency in natural gas and electricity and increasing its exports of them.
Dr. Hadhoud mentioned, in an interview with the daily program (Breakfast Show), that the Egypt Petroleum Show ( EGYPS 2022) was inaugurated by President Abdel Fattah e-Sisi , under the slogan ‘North Africa and the Mediterranean: Delivering Energy'.
He pointed out that among the attendees, representatives from the Organization of the Petroleum Exporting Countries (OPEC), Organization of Arab Petroleum Exporting Countries (OAPEC), the International Energy Agency (IEA), and the Eastern Mediterranean Gas Forum (EMGF) as well as experts and businessmen who gather to exchange dialogue on ways to develop the energy markets.
He added that Egypt's strategy is decreasing the dependence on non-renewable energy and relying on renewable resources of energy such as solar, water, and wind energy in order to decrease the emission of carbon dioxide which increases the temperature and causes pollution .
He declared that Egypt is implementing new projects in the transport sector, such as the Motorail and the Light Rail Train (LRT) which will save time and reduce the use of personal cars and decrease pollution.
