Shedding light on the Paris Conference recently wrapped up in France, political analyst Dr. Raouf Gaaffar attached great importance to the bilateral talks between President Abdel Fattah e-Sisi and his French counterpart Emmanuel Macron. He said that the two leaders discussed funding the development projects in Africa as well as efforts to combat terrorism.
Over the phone to Nile TV International, he asserted that terrorism roots need to be eradicated. He added that Africa has suffered from the repercussions of the Covid-19 due to its fragile economies, so Egypt speaks on behalf of Africa as it feels responsible towards the black continent.
Gaaffar believes that as Egypt is one of the leading states and one of the largest countries in Africa, thus it asks France, Europe and the international community to give a hand to the continent to overcome the crisis of the pandemic through grants, or low-interest and long-term base loans to develop itself, be able to overcome the virus and start reforming and improving its economy. He knows that France is capable of addressing the international community.
Likewise, Ambassador Hussein Hareedy said that the summit between President Sisi and Macron on financing African economies is so significant. The Egyptian economy is the third largest African economy, he reasserted, thus our participation is important as Egypt explains the financial needs of the continent.
In a phone interview with Nile TV, he expressed his hopes that the summit on African economies tries to fill a financing shortfall of almost 300 billion dollars caused by the pandemic as Africa is the most affected continent by the corona virus. The financial needs of Africa are enormous, yet Egypt has handled wisely the negative consequences of such a crisis on the local economy level, he concluded.
