Dr. Maha Mahgoub, Human Development Expert, said that the new social protection package that the government announced to cope with the cost of living is to support Egyptian citizens amid the global economic crisis.
Dr. Mahgoub mentioned, during an interview with the daily program (Breakfast Show) that the government is raising the minimum wages for public employees to 3,000 LE, and is also providing a 300 LE as an extra bonus for state employees.
She pointed out that these decisions come after many other initiatives that aim to support the Egyptian citizens and to raise their living standards such as "Takaful and Karama" as well as "Decent Life".
She noted that these initiatives support poor people, provide housing, education, health care as well as implement infrastructure and sewage projects to help people in all governorates.
Further, she declared that some international organizations fund small and medium projects that help in training youth and empowering women .
The expert finally stressed the importance of the cooperation of civil society organizations with the government to implement programs and projects and provide job opportunities to improve the quality of life of many citizens.
