Dr. Nehal Balbaa, Deputy Governor of Behira Governorate, said that Egypt promotes the trail of the Holy Family as a major touristic and religious experience, highlighting the role of the governorate in the development of the four monasteries as considered a focal point of the holy journey of the Holy Family by the Vatican City.

For the inauguration of the “Path of the Holy Family '' in Wadi El-Natrun in northern Egypt after implementation of the project of developing the 25-stop path, Balbaa spoke on (Cairo Local Time) about the active efforts towards all the roads leading to the monasteries with a total of 22 kilometers of paved roads with the lights turned on and towards the surrounded areas to offer services such as kiosks to sell souvenirs.

She mentioned that from August 2018 till before the COVID19 pandemic Egypt has received 12,400 tourists from all over the world, hoping to resume attracting tourists to this journey and promising them “to have a very interesting experience.”

The inauguration by the Egyptian ministers of local development and tourism and antiquities has the importance of allowing everyone to know that these areas renovated by experts are ready to receive tourists, the deputy governor of Behira said, adding that the four monasteries are considered the origin of Christianity not only in Egypt but also abroad.

She noted that Egypt has received for the first time the works of the General Assembly of the Middle East Council of Churches in its twelfth session from May 16th to May 20th hosted by the Coptic Orthodox Church, headed by His Holiness Pope Tawadros II. It was great, she said, and attended by the holy icons of Christianity reflecting a good and promising image of Egypt.

Finally, Balbaa pinpointed that the Path of the Holy Family is a new experience for all the Egyptians not only the Christians and its significance comes from the historical importance of those monasteries as well as the opportunities for future touristic investments.
