Hailing the Easter Sunday mass on Holy Saturday in St. Mark's Coptic Orthodox Cathedral in Abbasiya, councillor Amir Ramzy congratulated Egyptians and all Christians in the world, as for the first time in two years a huge number of Christians attended the mass amid strict coronavirus measures.
Over the phone to (Breakfast Show), he shed light on the holy week. The Palm Sunday marks the first day of the Holy Week that also has Maundy Thursday, Good Friday, and Holy Saturday, which is Easter’s eve when Copts usually go to church before gathering at night to celebrate and break their 55-day fast. The church represents love, hope and light, he added.
He highlighted that President Abdel Fattah e-Sisi sent greeting cables to the pope of Alexandria and the head of the Coptic Orthodox Church Pope Tawadros II who led the Easter Sunday mass, and said that its coincidence with the holy month of Ramadan is a call for adherence to noble religious values. In addition to cables of congratulations sent by Sisi to all Egyptian embassies abroad, he added.
