Dr. Ahmed Abdallah, Relic Inspector, Baron Palace, said that the Baron Palace is a major milestone in the urban landscape of Heliopolis neighborhood.
Dr. Abdallah mentioned, during an interview with (Nile Cruise) program, that the Baron Palace was constructed for the Belgian Baron Edward Empain between 1907 1nd 1911, who came to Egypt a few years earlier and loved to remain in it forever.
He added that the Baron stayed in India before heading to Egypt, so he was inspired by the Indian architecture in building his palace. He asked the famous French architect Alexander Marcel to build the Baron Palace.
He pointed out that the Baron Empain had a great role in building the Heliopolis neighborhood, he encouraged the Egyptian government to build the district around his new palace, and near Mataria which was called Heliopolis (The City of the Sun) during the Ancient Egyptian period.
He finally stressed that the Palace after its restoration in 2020 had attracted many visitors and tourists and hosted many concerts and events.
