Saeed Kishk, Researcher at Islamic Research Academy, said that the month of Rajab is one of the four sacred months in the Islamic calendar, it is the month of seeking forgiveness from God and asking forgiveness from people whom you wronged.
Kishk mentioned, during a new episode of (The Revelation) program, that God has asked Muslims not to wrong themselves in the Sacred months by committing sins.
He added that Allah mentioned in Surah At-Tawbah, verse 36:" Surely, the number of months according to Allah is twelve (as written) in the Book of Allah on the day He created the heavens and the Earth, of which there are Four Sacred Months. That is the right faith. So, do not wrong yourself therein."
He pointed out that the word "Rajab" linguistically means "to respect', thus this sacred month should be respected through doing good deeds and avoiding wrong doing.
He stressed that Rajab is blessed by the Journey of Isra' and Mi'raj, in which Prophet Mohamed was transported from Mecca to the Aqsa Mosque in Palestine and then he ascended to the Heavens.
He advised Muslims to fast in Rajab and Sha'ban especially on Mondays and Thursdays to prepare themselves for fasting in Ramadan, and also to help the poor and give charity.
