Bayoumi:Sisi's development strategy integrates disabled people

Senior advisor of Strategic Planning and Public Policy Dr. Moustafa Bayoumi said that he evaluates the importance of the ceremony “We Can .. With Differences” as the support comes from the head of the state, President Abdel Fattah e-Sisi,  which gives a great hope for all the people with disabilities to participate in the sustainable development efforts created to move Egypt to a better era.

Over the phone to (Special Edition), he added that the state is exerting efforts in addressing the needs of the people with determination and taking wide steps for their welfare. The president directed concerned bodies in the country to outline plans to further empower them and merge them in all national projects and initiatives, he reassured.

Moreover, he voiced appreciation for the president’s announcement of a number of measures that should help integrate projects implemented under the “Decent Life” initiative, expand training and rehabilitation of teachers to better communicate with persons with special needs, produce works of art that promote talents of persons with special needs, secure sports activities suitable for them, and employ those youth.

He stated that the world praised those measures, adding that The National Council for Persons with Disabilities interacts with the UN and non-governmental organizations and works with them especially after President Sisi issued law no. 10 for 2018 on the Rights of Persons with Disabilities which says that persons with disabilities shall exercise the right to education, learning, work and recreation, as well as in the use of public facilities and services which leads to the holistic and inclusive approach of the vision of Egypt 2030.

Dr. Bayoumi shed light on the education system as the Ministry of Education is adopting and achieving the principles of inclusive education in giving the opportunity, creating the environment and removing all obstacles before students to reach their dreams in education. He stressed the importance of integrating students with determination in schools and praised the step of offering them equal rights as their colleagues.

In terms of transportation, there is progress in creating accessibility of ramps and specially-designated roads to reach a 100% means of support, he said.

He praised what the president has said when he suggested that there is a need to issue legislation to allocate finances or funding for “We Can .. With Differences” Initiative Fund is dedicated to aid people with determination and special capabilities. He expects the fund program to cover priorities such as creating equal opportunities so that they participate in society effectively and achieve their goals for better life.

He highlighted the role of youth sporting centres and clubs as a great added value in providing special training for people with determination as we had seen our athletes bringing medals in the Paralympics and leading the world in a lot of sports.
