Hossam Ed-Deen Allam, Lecturer Al-Azhar University, said that (Hijrah), the Migration of Prophet Mohammad from Mecca to Madinah, was a momentous moment that marked the end of oppression and the beginning of freedom for early Muslims.
Allam mentioned, during a new episode of (The Revelation) program, that there are many lessons that can be learnt from Hijrah, among them that it stressed the principle of gender equality and refuted any discrimination between men and women.
He pointed out that Prophet Mohammad entrusted a woman, who was Asmaa, the daughter of Abu Bakr, to carry food and provisions to the Prophet and her father while hiding in the Cave of thawr.
He added that the mission was hard and risky because the polytheists of Mecca were searching for the Prophet to kill him, yet she was very careful and trustworthy and succeeded in her dangerous mission.
He declared that Hijrah also displayed the Prophet's deep conviction and faith in the promises of Allah . When Abu Bakr was very frightened as he saw the polytheists very close to them near the cave, he said to the Prophet: ‘O Messenger of Allah! If one of them were to look at his sandals, he would surely see us.’ The Prophet replied reassuringly: Aba Bakr! Don’t worry! What do you make of two, whom Allah is their third
