Expert:Egypt promising to top ME tourist traps by 2022

Tourism expert Dr. Yehia Abdel Qader hailed that Egypt won the presidency of the Middle East Regional Committee of the World Tourism Organization at its next session

Tourism expert Dr. Yehia Abdel Qader hailed that Egypt won the presidency of the Middle East Regional Committee of the World Tourism Organization (WTO) at its next session. He said that during the 47th meeting of the committee held in Riyadh, Saudi Arabia, Mr. Zurab Pololikashvili, WTO Secretary-General announced that Egypt will host the meeting of the committee in its 48th edition due in early 2022.

In a phone call with (Cairo Local Time), Abdel Qader added that the UNWTO Regional Commission head office is in Madrid and a new regional office is opened in Riyadh. The committee, he illustrated, will support promotion of tourism in the region, and seek more ways and venues for investment in the tourism sector in the 13 countries members of the committee.

Moreover, the organization works for upgrading the skills of the human resources and looks for jobs creation, Qader said, referring to Saudi Arabia, as a member of the committee, that it is looking forward to hiring around one million men and women in accordance with its 2030 vision for economic and tourism development.

The tourism expert mentioned that Egypt was the first destination of the WTO Secretary-General after the travel ban was lifted last August, adding that Pololikashvili praised the precautionary measures and hygiene safety regulations implemented by the Egyptian government to resume tourism. He also promoted Egypt in that meeting and invited the members and the whole world to visit Egypt and enjoy the beauty of its beaches, beautiful landscapes and ancient civilization.

Dr. Abdel Qader pointed out that since August 2020, Egypt has begun to receive tourists from 25 countries. Charters are arriving in Marsa Alam, Hurghada, Sharm el-Sheikh, Marsa Matrouh and Al Alamein as well, he said, highlighting that flights were resumed to Egypt.

The demand for Egypt is growing, he believed, marking the return of flights direct from Moscow to Hurghada and Sharm El-Sheikh airports.

(Cairo Local Time) is aired on Nile TV International from Sunday to Thursday and this episode is presented by Enjy Maher.
