On the occasion of the golden parade of the 22 mummies transferred from the iconic Tahrir Museum to the new National Museum of Egyptian Civilisation in AlFustat in Old Cairo, tour guide Mai Said said that it is a magnificent glorious event that suits Egypt.
Over the phone to (Breakfast Show), she added that she was proud of all the details: the music, the composer, the Maestro, every single actor and actress was fascinating, all the details, the parade of the mummies from the Tahrir Museum, etc. In ancient Egypt, they defined eternity as not to be forgotten, the modern Egyptians had achieved this eternity to ancient Egyptians as they had dreamed of, she said.
She shed light on the display which was totally dedicated to those mummies, insisting that we should have a lot of museums scattered all over Egypt, renovate our old museums and construct new ones to attract more visitors as Egypt finds new discoveries every day and our museums are not enough for every single piece. For the cultural museum and the moving of mummies, it will be also educational not just for watching, as it will teach visitors about mummification, the history of each mummy, its life, culture, diseases, fate, etc.
Said believes that the display was fascinating and the live broadcasting of the ceremony has a significant impact on the numbers of visiting tourists as they will consider Egypt as a very important destination and a target place.
She hailed the attendees of the ceremony: UNESCO Director-General Audrey Azoulay and the Secretary-General of the World Tourism Organisation (UNWTO) Zurab Pololikashvili as they expressed their admiration and praised the endless efforts to present the Egyptian civilization to the world. Since the 70s, UNESCO has considered Egypt as a part of human heritage with all its treasures. The Cultural Museum is funded by UNESCO to preserve the human heritage.
