Prof Qaliouby:Refining system renders Egypt green by 2030

Professor of petroleum Dr. Gamal El Qaliouby said that the petroleum sector has positive investments in the last five years which is of very high beneficiality in terms of foreign investment. This sustains the system the people demand, he asserted, related to the gas and the domestic fuel.

Over the phone to (Cairo Local Time), he explained that the portion of gas allowed the government to convert old cars that are over 20 years old to new ones using gas instead of diesel. This replacement happens under comfortable installations using the local banking, he illustrated, adding that meanwhile microbuses and buses are allowed to convert their engine to dual acting fuel which leads to a 50% reduction in fuel consumption that serves the economy.

Dr. Qaliouby indicated that the domestic gas is delivered to a lot of houses and they already save thus reducing the imported fuel. Such different solutions allow the country to rationalize its imports and reduce the overall demands of importing a big value of the fuel by 30 % compared to 2019, he further elaborated.

He also hailed the Ministry of Petroleum for its efforts in importing crude oil and improving the facilities of the refining system in Egypt. In that regard, he pointed out that it also started mega projects in 2018 to improve the capabilities of the old infrastructure in addition that two new refining factories had been opened in 2019 and 2020 which increase the percentage of industrial domestic fuel.

Moreover, he shed light on clean energy that has an impact on petroleum products. Egypt is turning to green fuel utilization; this is the target of our leadership that by the year 2030 Egypt is going to be a green country.
