Sports critic Dr. Abdel Aziz Abo Hammar asserted that Al Ahly team has done its most important preparations for the FIFA Club World Cup
Sports critic Dr. Abdel Aziz Abo Hammar asserted that Al Ahly team has done its most important preparations for the FIFA Club World Cup that kicks off on 4 February in Qatar. The team was received by their fans in Doha airport, he said.
He stated during an interview on (Cairo Local Time) that all the players and the technical staff had tested negative for COVID-19 after they underwent PCR tests ahead of the flight.
Abu Hammar said that the Red Eagles performance in this competition in 2006 was great as they had won the bronze medal, adding that the team has accumulated experience in this round that will help them to act well.
There is a big history behind Al Ahly as it is a team which should dominate, he added, highlighting that the team will compete in the prestigious competition for the sixth time in history after winning the CAF Champions League title for a record 9th time.
He explained that Al Ahly will face Qatari champions Al Duhail SC at Education City Stadium on Thursday, then will face UEFA Champions League winners FC Bayern Munich in the semi-finals if they beat Al Duhail SC.
Ahly made five previous appearances at the Club World Cup, the last of which was in 2013. Their best result was a third-place finish in the 2006 edition in Japan.
(Cairo Local Time) is aired from Saturday to Thursday. This episode is conducted by Engy Maher.
