Ambassador Gamal Bayoumi, Former Assistant Foreign Minister, said that Cairo witnessed this week very important meetings between Egyptian and Arab high ranking officials.
Amb. Bayoumi mentioned, during a phone conversation with (Arab Affairs) program, that President Abdel Fattah e-Sisi met this week with Abu Dhabi Crown Prince Sheikh Mohammed Bin Zayed.
He added that the meeting tackled bilateral ties, security in the Middle East as well as the efforts to combat the Coronavirus pandemic. It was also agreed that UAE would join the Eastern Mediterranean Gas Forum as an observing state.
He pointed out that President Sisi also received a high-profile Iraqi delegation, and he expressed his great support for Iraq and eagerness for more cooperation with the Iraqi government.
Further, he declared that Foreign Minister Sameh Shoukri also met with his Jordanian and Palestinian counterparts to discuss the latest developments in the Palestinian file.
He finally stressed that these meetings emphasize the necessity of Arab unity to face the regional challenges and to achieve stability and development.
