Marcel Samir asserts Egypt’s commitment to non-intervention

Marcel Samir stressed the fact that Egypt’s foreign policy is firm in respecting the principle of non-interference in the international affairs of other countries

Member of the Youth Coordination of Parties and Politicians Marcel Samir stressed the fact that Egypt’s foreign policy is firm in respecting the principle of non-interference in the international affairs of other countries, underlining in that regard the coalition’s condemnation of the European Parliament’s statement on the Human Rights situation in Egypt.

Over the phone to (Cairo Local Time), she asserted that the statement has a hidden context, describing it as a pressure card against Egypt. That is a lack of EU’s parliamentary professionalism, she argued, remarking on  the EU’s forgetfulness of the principle recognized by the UN regarding separation of policies. Accordingly, she reiterated that they have to respect our internal affairs.

Samir insisted that all countries should stick to the rules of  the UN. She stated that the committee as well as the Egyptian parliament criticized the EU intervention in issues related to the Egyptian judiciary as we pay great respect to the legislative authorities in Egypt.

The Youth Coordination, she added, has asked them to comment on the UN general assembly rule concerning non-interference in the international affairs of a state and the protection of its independence. The Coordination also asked the governments about the source of the information they published in their statement and they didn’t have any answer to their accusations, she said.

In a statement the Youth Coordination of Parties and Politicians affirmed its rejection of the fallacies contained in a statement of the European parliament, asking critically why the parliament gave itself the right to evaluate others whilst it was better to focus its attention on the EU countries and deficiencies of the human rights situation over there, she emphasized.

In the same context, Samir criticized what they indicated that the deliberate selectivity in choosing facts when cutting them out of context was a clear politicization of the files of rights and freedoms, which is the largest evidence that this step by the EU parliament has other multifaceted reasons.

(Cairo Local Time) is aired from Sunday to Thursday. This episode is presented by Engy Maher.
