Abdelhady:France contributes to enhancing archaeology in Egypt

Radwa Abdelhady, Archaeological Conservator and Founding Director of Heritage NGO attached great importance to the role of French archeological missions across Egypt which enhances the cultural bilateral relations.

Shedding light on the significant visit of President Abdel fattah e-Sisi currently in France, she said over her voice that those missions are playing an important role in saving and excavating the cultural heritage of Egypt. French archeologists, she added, have been playing the greatest roles throughout decades in establishing science of Egyptology and archaeology in Egypt. She cited examples of Jean-Francois Champollion and Auguste Mariette.

She illustrated that we have mainly 3 permanent archeological centers covering the related works under the archaeological study in Egypt; the French Archaeological Institute for Oriental Studies, the French Egyptian Center for Karnak Temples Studies, the Alexandria Study Center.

French excavations, as underwater works, enhance the Mediterranean collaboration between Egypt and France and are considered as Egyptian European teams in a way to conserve heritage.

In that regard, Alexandria plays a great role as it organizes an annual celebration called “Alexandria heritage week “ and exchanges programs with French students.

Abdelhady called for raising public awareness and sharing awareness among the specialists to preserve and conserve our heritage.
