Prof Elatty:Universities pioneers via science to serve society

Professor Dr Ebeed Abd Elatty Saleh,President of Damanhur University, underlined his concerned approach to push ahead the University’s six fields of education

In full compliance to the directives of President Abdel Fattah e-Sisi who pledged since the outset of his tenure in 2014 to achieve overall development within Egypt’s vision 2030, Professor Dr Ebeed Abd Elatty Saleh, President of Damanhur University, underlined his concerned approach to push ahead the University’s six fields of education, students, higher studies, scientific research and community services.

 He hailed during an (Exclusive with Taghreed Hussein) the government’s unrelenting efforts for promoting education, empowering youth and boosting leadership. In that regard, the University sought to set up six councils; one for Student Union as a youth platform to shed light on their own aims and problems, another for the professors, others for co-teachers and aiding staff, and finally for the retired professors to get benefit of their expertise throughout their work.

He further spoke about several initiatives launched by the University as “Skill Learning” based on practical training to come up with new thinking and proper education. He touched upon Sisi’s assertion on bringing about young inventors, creators, gifted persons and the talented ones to be shown up and get the best use of them for the society. As such, he lauded Sisi’s insightfulness and so many major breakthroughs in only six years.     

In the same context, he illustrated that the Damanhur University has 13 patents granted in many fields, for example: cancer treatment, palm bugs treatment to save dates production at the regional level, improvement of shell life of natural products and many vital pharmaceutical preparations which can fight many ills.

Moreover, he mentioned the University’s leaps of progress at the agricultural level; enlightenment seminars for breeders and farmers, vet caravans and agricultural ones which were unprecedented among the Egyptian universities. Abd Elatty focused on American students and their admiration for a private sector-led growth in a farm of Abu Hummus, Beheira Governorate they visited some time ago.

He paid tribute to the Egyptian Armed Forces for collaborating with the governorate to increase productivity through improving plant and animal farms. In light of many cooperation protocols signed with many foreign universities, he praised the Egyptian expat scientists, graduated from the Damanhur University, who joined Japan’s “The National Institute of Materials and Science” to get more benefits.

The president concluded with words of praise about the pioneer Damanhur University which works and exchanges expertise and information with the most prominent leading institutions in the U.S.A as Stanford University in California and Vanderbilt University in Tennessee in the field of computer sciences and machine engineering to achieve more progress via science and education.
