In the light of resounding success achieved by the Suez Canal Authority in refloating the enormous container ship “Ever Given” after blocking the canal waterway, Economic expert Dr Hany Abo El Fotouh stressed its highly importance to the Egyptian economy due to its unique geographical location.
Over his voice on (Breakfast Show), he gave the captains of the vessels and engineers in the authority credit for freeing the 220,000 ton and 400-metre megaship, lauding their competence in handling the issue. He was sure that the authority will take such an incident into consideration with tough measures not to reoccur in the future, he added.
Shedding light on the revenues of the Suez Canal which exceeded a half a trillion over the past 10 years, he said that it is a vital artery for the global trade and the shortest link between the Mediterranean and Red Seas.
By making navigation be back to normal after being idled since March 23, Egypt sent a message to the whole world that the Suez Canal is ready to accommodate all kinds of ships to pass through even in the worst circumstances as Egypt proved successful in addressing the issue within a short time, he concluded.
