Tourism Counsellor commended the government for great effort in preparing for the (COP27)
Tourism Counsellor Dr. Yehya Abdul Qader commended the government for great effort in preparing for the United Nations Conference of Parties on Climate Change (COP27), hosted by Sharm El Sheikh in November. He shed light on the latest development projects in Saint Catherine's city of Sinai Peninsula.
Commenting on Prime Minister Mostafa Madbouli’s visit recently to the new Saint Catherine’s city to inspect such projects, he declared over the phone to (Breakfast Show) that he visited the airport which will be catering for domestic and international flights. Madbouli also checked the eco-friendly transportation system that will serve 40 thousand participants and attendees in the global conference, he added.
Dr. Abdul Qader highlighted the importance of St. Catherine as a UNESCO heritage. The Sinai Peninsula is like a crossover between Africa and Asia, and an axis of migration to Egypt, he illustrated, mentioning that Prophets Abraham, Joseph, Jacob and Prophet Moses had passed by Sinai as well as the Holy Family. It has a special valuable status in the hearts of Jews, Christians and Moslems, he reassured.
He counted some of Sinai’s fortunes; it is very rich with its ecological biodiversity, herbal medicines, flora and fauna, precious minerals and metals such as Turquoise, etc, thus it is recommended by the UNESCO as a must-visit and preserve location in addition to its spiritual side, Qader said.
There are many monuments in Sinai such as the Serabit el-KhadimTemple which was built during the pharaonic era, he stated, as it is the temple of Goddess Hathor the goddess of women, fertility, enjoyment, music and love. She is the goddess protecting miners against the harsh and dangerous hazards while they work in the mines of Sinai, that’s why a prestigious temple was established for her, he elaborated.
Further, he underscored St. Catherine, the daughter of a Roman emperor who embraced Christianity against her fathers will, and the monastery was named after her.
Sinai had been of great importance during all eras, he reaffirmed. The renovation of such sacred sites will boost tourism as it will become a worldwide destination for spiritual, mountain, medical and eco-tourism, in addition to providing various tourism and recreational services for visitors, he concluded. It is notable to mention that the "Great Transfiguration" project around Saint Catherine, includes constructing 21 residential complexes, as well as establishing a school, a mosque, a church, and a number of shops.
(Breakfast Show) is aired daily. This episode is presented by Amal Mokhtar.
