Adly:Sisi's policy brings about leap in health for Africa, ME

Dr. Magdy Adly said that establishing the largest organ transplant center in the Middle East

Dr. Magdy Adly, Senior Manager in Healthcare and Quality Control Management, said that establishing the largest organ transplant center in the Middle East and Africa in Cairo is a mega project that definitely will provide a good and qualified medical service for Egyptians, Africans as well as Arab citizens.

In a phone call with (Africa Today), Adly mentioned that transferring Egyptian health expertise to other countries is normal as historically Egypt has provided physicians to Africa as we work under the umbrella of the African Union.

It was clear during the COVID19 pandemic where Egypt sent a lot of medical equipment for many countries, he added.

Egypt is aiming to become a leader in the field of health care services and research in the Arab world and Africa, he said, declaring that Egypt has worked on that issue eight years ago. It started with the presidential initiatives including 100 Million Healthy Lives Initiative that was launched in October 2018 for the early detection of Hepatitis C virus and other initiatives to diagnose current diseases as obesity, diabetes, hypertension, as well as the manufacturing of vaccines as COVID19 vaccine and establishing many research centers in the Egyptian universities.

Finally, he hailed that around 80% of targeted people got COVID19 vaccine in Egypt, hoping that Africa can reach an adequate number of vaccinated citizens. He further underlined Egypt’s role in exporting the vaccine to African countries. President Abdel-Fattah e-Sisi directed the government on Monday to establish the largest organ transplant center in the Middle East and Africa in Cairo, in cooperation with international companies. This center will include an automated database for transplants, patients and donors, he concluded.

(Africa Today) is aired weekly on Monday and Wednesday on Nile TV International and is presented by Mahisty Rabie.
