Agricultural expert Dr. Adel EL Ghandour said that Egypt’s crops of vegetables and fruits are distinguished by their high quality and great taste and the products are located on the international classification. He added that the state cultivates very distinguished production especially in oranges as we are one of the first exporters.

Over the phone to (Cairo Local Time), he stated that we also export dates which are characterised by their distinguished high quality such as Medjool and Barhi. Egypt has entered the international markets in Asia, Europe and the Arab countries. We export potatoes, onions, green beans, strawberries and pomegranate. We expect to increase our exports by 2.5 billion dollars from cultivation, he noted.

He elaborated that our production crops are very unique and fits the international standards due to the good agricultural practices and the producing organic crops. We will extend our exports to Africa as well at the end of 2022 after the opening of the road Alexandria-Cape Town.

Dr. Ghandour explained that we open markets through exhibitions in most of the world's countries and we introduce some new untraditional fruits such as the dragon fruit which we cultivate now. There is a new trend to growing crops through hydroculture as well, he added, pointing out that we export dry and fresh herbs from Fayoum and Upper Egypt.

He assured President Abdel Fattah e-Sisi directives of implementing the New Delta on Dabaa Corridor increases food production and a set of industries. It is a megaproject to cultivate over 1 million feddans to boost food security and enhance export, he concluded, mentioning that treated agricultural wastewater will be used in cultivating the new lands of the project.
