Dr. Ayman Abdel Wahab, UN Environmental Counselor, said that the World Youth Forum succeeded in raising awareness about the dangers of water scarcity and global warming.
He mentioned, during a phone conversation with the daily program (Breakfast Show), that the Nile River is the vein of life for Egypt and Egypt has a historical right on the water of the Nile that should be respected by all other Nile Basin countries.
He pointed out that Nile water is a matter of national security for Egypt, and the Egyptian administration is very firm in tackling this issue.
He added that the forum stressed the challenges of climate changes that might cause shortage of water in certain areas and floods in other areas.
He finally declared that industrial countries should play a more effective role in meeting the challenges of the increase of carbon emission which they are responsible for.
