Bagneed: Mainstream media substantial against rumors

Professor of media studies Dr. Magda Bagneed substantiated the importance of President Abdel Fattah e-Sisi’s message, during his phone call with a television program, to highlight the role of the media as no one can ignore its pivotal message to the community.

Over the phone to (Cairo Local Time), she added that the president shed light on the performance of the media to reach all the audience and to speak simply and indirectly to the people in an easy way. His Excellency used the television in order to reach masses of people, she reassured. 

She believes that the role of social media will always interfere in that of the mainstream media and most of the time could spoil serious things as nobody is checking over what is being said or written which leads to a serious problem. Yet, it is the duty of the mainstream media, she admitted, to try to immediately correct what is being said so that people would not be confused and also to dispel the rumours.

Dr. Bagneed concluded that the president, when speaking to that program, meant to kill whatever rumours are there by reaching his people, transferring to them the right message so that they will feel more comfortable as the head of the state is directly contacting them.
