Dr Noha Bakr, Professor of Political Science at American University of Cairo, asserted that Egypt’s brokering role with regard to the ceasefire recently between Israel and Hamas after more than 11 days of fighting proved insightfulness of its political leadership as demonstrated at all levels locally, regionally and internationally. She lauded President Abdel Fattah e-Sisi’s latest crucial phone talks with U.S. president Joe Biden on means of implementing the truce and hailed the following fruitful visit paid by US Secretary of State Anthony Blinken.
Over her voice on (Exclusive), she hailed in that respect the world’s recognition of Egypt’s wisdom in backing all decades-long causes such as Libya and Sudan. In addition, she stressed Egypt’s bilateral coordination with U.S. mainly in fighting terrorism and in respecting water security of the Nile Basin countries, in reference to Grand Ethiopian Renaissance Dam. She touched upon Sisi’s fruitful meetings with world leaders at the Paris Conference held recently to tackle Sudan’s Transitional Period.
Commenting on Egypt’s assertion on no interference into internal affairs, she underlined that Qatar and Turkey acknowledged that fact after a long period of stagnation of multilateral cooperation, and nowadays they have great aspiration to forge ties with Egypt. She underscored Egypt’s historical support to Qatar and expects that more cooperation on the horizon will bind the two countries on many aspects, referring to the Qatari Foreign Minister’s recent visit to Egypt. Likewise, Egypt’s market is promising for Turkey’s investors, she declared.
On the African side, Bakr highlighted Egypt’s pivotal role in unifying the powerful continent with its huge wealth and huge potential market. She also praised Sisi’s dynamic agenda in terms of multilateral cooperation with all African countries at all levels, particularly during his chairmanship of the African Union.
