Al Gharabawy: “Welcome Back Home” strengthens Egyptian fabric

Sustainable development activist Dr. Dina Al Gharabawy said that the campaign “Welcome Back Home Initiative” started back in July 2020 where lots of Egyptians were locked down in many countries. They needed to come back to Egypt and to make sure they have their jobs and secure the well-being of their families, so her organization tried to secure and sustain another life for every person after getting back, she highlighted.

Hosted by (Windows), she shed light on the Minister of Immigration Dr. Nabila Makram’s efforts as she approved a protocol of issuing a committee to put a strategic plan and manage an initiative from the assessment till the evaluation by the end of the program. That happened, she illustrated, with the collaboration of the Ministry of Social solidarity, together with the Air Force that helped with the data, and the Ministry of Strategic Planning in management, and finally the Ministry of Investment that provided them with the projects and available job opportunities, as well as the cooperation of NGOs providing jobs and planning.

Dr. Gharabawy pinpointed the efforts of youth who participated for the sake of goodness and giving hope to others. They were able to provide aid and help to returnees from abroad through some steps starting from filling an online application passing through studies and finding convenient positions including family members until a face-to-face interview. It is a sustainable and inclusive program, she added.

Further, she reassured that they approach the arriving workforce with the collaboration of the Air Force which provided them with the data of the person who lost his job abroad, then each and every person went through an orientation after arriving in Egypt, and they knew his choices of the job he needs, thus they estimate the eligibility criteria and the qualifications of everyone to direct him to the right place. Everyone gets the same care whether a worker or a university professor, she added.

The sustainable development activist asserted that lots of women have shown their interest in ideas of startups and enterprises. They came out with innovations in great ideas and scale when they knew they would be supported and empowered. The Ministry of Strategic Planning provided funds for families led by females and supported their startups.

She stated that one of the goals of sustainable development is to eradicate gender inequality so supporting women is one of the goals that Egypt worked on back to 2017. The Ministry of Investment together with NGOs applied it and supported small projects done by energetic women.

In that respect, she hailed an NGO named “Entreprenelle” for supporting females who live in rural areas. They help them to apply their idea, support them with paperwork, fund them and recommend them to the market. She stressed the importance of sustainability for the project fund so they give them vocational training and follow up with programs for one or two months. Focusing on NGO's efforts; she pointed out that they offer them a meal during the training hours, apply gamifications during the day as a psychological matter and even get their children with them and involve them in such programs.
