Member of the Egyptian Community in USA, Sarah Michel shed light on the “Speak Arabic Initiative”, saying that it is meant to make Egyptians abroad get in touch with their culture and their mother language as they are exposed to different ways, cultures and languages abroad.
Over the phone to (Cairo Local Time), she said that the initiative targets children, teenagers and youth in their early 20s. All of them were happy as they got to learn more about their country Egypt and what Arabic really means, she added.
She elaborated that there were lots of activities during the symposium that took place through the Zoom Application while celebrating the festival of the “Speak Arabic Initiative”. They played Egyptian games, sang Arabic songs, spoke in Arabic and learnt some Arabic terms, she highlighted.
Michel stated that the initiative was launched in Austria, Canada and in other countries. The more you are involved, the more you get in touch with other Egyptians abroad and the more Egyptians feel they are connected to their country without having to sacrifice their culture or forget it or feel nostalgia, she concluded.
(Cairo Local Time) is aired from Saturday to Thursday. This episode is presented by Amal Mokhtar.
