Contestant hails Egypt's semi-final competition via youth in science

Young contestant Menna Shaker underlined that the FameLab competition is one of the biggest competitions in the world in which all the pioneers of the scientific community participate. She said it is sponsored by Egypt in cooperation with the British Council and the Academy of Scientific Research.

Over the phone to (Cairo Local Time), she announced that she had qualified for the semi-finals of the competition, admitting the fact of her long-lasting interest in science and communications, as she was waiting to participate for four years.

The 19-year old girl explained that the contestant should explain a scientific concept or idea to the general audience in three minutes only delivering clear and simple content for anyone to understand. In that regard, the audience voted for the best performance, she added, declaring that she was able to get the most votes. The prize was presented by the Academy of Scientific Research and Technology, she commented.

Hailing many forums, competitions and youth conferences she participated in, she acknowledged the fact that they helped her meet many people from various cultures. She stressed the importance of those conferences, saying that they give youth the opportunity to improve themselves in a personal and scientific way, and make professional future leaders. She advised the young youth not to be afraid of trying, and urged them to get the best of their abilities and improve their skills.
