Commenting on President Abdel Fattah e-Sisi’s call for concerted action combating overpopulation, economic expert Hany Aboul Fotouh reiterated the importance of birth-rate control to improve the living standard of all segments of society, and hence helping the economy reach new highs.
Over his voice on (Breakfast Show), he stressed the president’s main concern about the biggest threat to Egypt; overpopulation and terrorism. We are expected to reach 130 million people by 2032, he illustrated, admitting the pivotal state measures to control the fertility rates.
He emphasized the necessary reduction of the high growth rates of population in order to bear fruits of the mega projects and pursue the state efforts on development tracks at all levels. Elaborating, he said that overpopulation presents a huge burden on education, healthcare, economy and all services rendered to the citizens. Therefore, he referred to the good impact of development projects on the private sector which has a vital role in enhancing means of progress through several business entities.
“National Family Planning Campaign” is an essential initiative launched by the government to help the people optimally benefit from all state efforts to live decent and dignified life and enlighten their minds of the catastrophic results of their misconceptions according to their traditional and religious beliefs, especially those in rural areas and in Upper Egypt, the expert reassured.
It's pertinent to mention that the president's greater emphasis on the daunting challenges due to overpopulation came amid his recent inauguration of the integrated medical complex in Ismailia Governorate and many other national healthcare projects,in attendance of Minister of Health and Population Hala Zayed and a host of ministers and senior officials.
