Bayoumi asserts Sisi's staunch support to Africa for joint action

Former assistant Foreign Minister Ambassador Gamal Bayoumi shed light on the meeting of President Abdel-Fattah e-Sisi and the Chairperson of the African Union Commission

Former assistant Foreign Minister Ambassador Gamal Bayoumi shed light on the meeting of President Abdel-Fattah e-Sisi and the Chairperson of the African Union Commission Moussa Faki, saying that Egypt is the corridor to Africa as we share a long history, not only since the reign of President Gamal Abdel Nasser but it goes back to the pharaonic era that’s why many African tribes have Egyptian origin.

Over the phone to (Africa Today), he added that Egyptian projects are everywhere in Africa and our diplomatic missions serve in all countries there. We invented the Egyptian Fund for Cooperation in Africa which has become now the Egyptian Agency for Development and Partnership in Africa and we are enlarging the efforts of this organization to benefit all the continent, he illustrated.

The ambassador stressed that our presidency is very active as Egypt was the chairman of the AU in 2019, so it is normal that we receive every now and then an African envoy to ask for our experience and consultation due to our good reputation and the African are also good listeners.

He underscored the establishment of the African large free trade area which led to the unification of all small trade zones that boost the intra-trade among Africa. Egypt is deepening its relations there.

Bayoumi affirmed that Africa deserves all our efforts. They support us and support our interests as the Palestine cause though Palestine is not African. They vote automatically after whatever the Egyptian opinion is, thus, we are one cooperative family, he reaffirmed.

El-Sisi and Faki discussed a number of African issues in light of preparations for the upcoming African summit, scheduled for February. Sisi referred to the role of achieving stability and establishing a comprehensive infrastructure that allows linkage among African geographical provinces as the starting point for the path of development in the continent.

(Africa Today) is aired on Nile TV International Wednesday. This episode is presented by Mahesty Rabei, written by Rana al Desouqy and directed by Doaa Raslan and Marwan el Dahshan.
