Oraby stresses Egypt's concern in one Arab position for peace

Ambassador Mohamed El-Oraby, Former Foreign Minister, said that President Abdel Fattah e-Sisi’s visit to Jordan is of great importance in the light of the real developmen

Ambassador Mohamed El-Oraby, Former Foreign Minister, said that President Abdel Fattah e-Sisi’s visit to Jordan is of great importance in the light of the real development in the Middle East especially as Palestinian President Mahmoud Abbas declared conducting the new elections. In the meantime, a new era will begin by the new administration in Washington, he said.

He asserted, during a phone call to (Daily Debate), his belief that those elements will give both Egypt and Jordan the encouragement in order to exert more effort to reignite the political process between the Palestinians and the Israelis in terms of having real peace between the two sides and to meet all ambitions of the Palestinian people for their state.

He highlighted that Egypt and Jordan already embarked on very ambitious plans including Iraq, also to have a kind of trilateral cooperation between three important Arab countries. There are real plans and bilateral meetings, he elaborated, believing that such effort will be important to cement the core of Arab working together especially in the time the world witnesses new waves of political changes. Thus, the Arabs should be ready to face all kinds of challenges, he stressed, emphasizing that the only way is to have real cooperation.

President Sisi attended in August a tripartite summit between Egypt, Jordan and Iraq to discuss partnership and bilateral and regional issues of common interest, including the Palestinian cause.

As for the new American administration, the former foreign minister said that the Arabs should start by having a common position, strategy and plans towards all the stormy topics which prevail in our region as the Palestinian cause, the Syrian issue, the Libyan problem and the Yemeni question. Ambassador Oraby underlined the importance of having one position to face all these kinds of challenges and even more the ambitious plans of some regional powers who are aiming to interfere in our internal affairs.

President Abdel Fattah e-Sisi arrived in the Jordanian capital Amman on Monday for summit talks with King Abdullah II of Jordan that fall within the framework of constant bilateral consultations and coordination.
