Nicola:Tourism booming in Egypt after vaccine deployment

Emad Nicola, a Tourism Expert, said that tourism is one of the main sectors that has been severely affected by Covid-19

Emad Nicola, a Tourism Expert, said that tourism is one of the main sectors that has been severely affected by Covid-19 during the last year simply because travel traffic has come to a standstill. And as the main objective was “to stay safe at home”, nobody has traveled for any reason, he highlighted.

However, he added, in an interview with (Windows) programme, that the situation nowadays seems promising. “We might have some business in the coming summer and maybe by the next winter we will be in a much better situation,” he said.

The tourist expert believed it is normal that CNN lists Egypt as one of the top destinations to visit in 2021, pinpointing that everyone dreams about visiting Egypt and having a picture with the pyramids.

He assured that as soon as the world gets a way to maneuver around the Covid-19 with vaccine or treatment, we will have a “big boom” in the tourism field because people now want to travel after the one and half year of lock down.

One of the places that will attract the tourists will be The National Museum of Egyptian civilization in Cairo, Nicola said, assuming that it presents our heritage focusing not only on the first civilization in history but also on the Roman, Coptic, Islamic periods up to the modern history. We always have bright times in our history that have to be show to the people, he stressed.

When we talk about history and civilization, we should be impressed by the opening of Abdeen Palace which has been locked for many years, Nicola said, pointing to other great palaces established in modern history as the Palace of Mohamed Ali inn Shubra, the Manial Palace, and the Baron Palace.

In addition, Nicola mentioned the Giza pyramids plateau and how the area from the museum to the pyramids will be represented in a decent, clean, organized, and protected manner, hoping that the project finishes by the time the tourism returns to normal. He assured that the tour in this area will be more enjoyable to everyone, urging the ministry of Tourism and Antiquities to take the same steps to improve all our tourist destinations.

He finally pointed out the urgent need to train the new young generation to work in the tourism field which is badly affected and deserted by many well qualified tourist guides because of the pandemic.

(Windows) is aired Wednesday weekly on Nile TV International and this episode is presented by Dina Hussein.
