Ambassador Hussein Hareedy, Former Assistant to the Foreign Minister, said that US envoy for Horn of Africa Jeffrey Feltman's visit to Egypt, Sudan and Ethiopia, was essential to understand the different views concerning the Ethiopian Dam.

Ambassador Hareedy mentioned, during a phone conversation with (Arab Affairs) program, that President Abdel-Fattah e-Sisi affirmed to the US envoy that the Nile Water is an existential issue for Egypt which will not accept any harm to its water interests.

He added that it is the first time that the United States designates a special envoy to the Horn of Africa, which indicates the importance of this region and its impact on international security .

He declared that this region became a source of terrorism and insecurity to the whole world and it needs more care and development.

The ambassador stressed that the Horn of Africa is also very crucial for Egypt's national security as Bab Al-Mandab Strait is the south gate to the Suez Canal.
