Dr. Magda Bagnied, Professor of Mass Communication, said that the crisis of the stranded ship that blocked the Suez Canal highlights the great importance of the Suez Canal for the whole world.

Dr. Bagnied mentioned, during a phone conversation with the daily program (Breakfast Show) that the incident drew the world's attention to the benefits of the Suez Canal in saving time and money and to its vital role in the global economy.

She hailed the Suez Canal Authority and expressed her pride as an Egyptian for the success of the salvage operation to afloat the ship  which happened only by Egyptian efforts, adding that it was expected that the operation would at  least take another week.

She pointed out that the global media followed the incident closely and it was the first headline of the news everywhere because of its impact on the global economy as the Suez Canal is the shortest maritime route from Europe to Asia and vice versa.

She finally stressed that the incident highlighted the solidarity and commitment of all the Egyptians who usually succeed in facing all the challenges.
