Dr Ayoub:Al Fayrouz Fish Farming contributes to 2030 goals

Economic expert Dr. Ayoub Mahmoud Ayoub stressed the importance of the projects President Abdel Fattah e-Sisi inaugurated in the Al-Fayrouz Fish Farming project in Port

Economic expert Dr. Ayoub Mahmoud Ayoub stressed the importance of the projects President Abdel Fattah e-Sisi inaugurated in the Al-Fayrouz Fish Farming project in Port Said as they help serve the sustainable development of Egypt’s agenda 2030 and are the core of our economic development.

Over the phone to (Daily Debate), he asserted that those projects whether in the agriculture sector, irrigation sector and also in agro-industries in various governorates mean that the standard of living of the Egyptian citizen will be elevated. Another point is the better use of our limited water resources and recycling them to add value to the available resources, he added.

Supporting his point, he pointed out that those projects help progress the agro-industry production and the ordinary citizen will feel the results soon especially in the agriculture section, Ayoub said. Referring to the Fish Farming project, he clarified that it will lead to promoting self-sufficiency, reducing import, increasing our agricultural exports and allowing export to Arab and European markets. Our economic development now is far better than many countries around us, he reassured.

Dr. Ayoub added that Egypt has ground water and sterilization projects for the sea water; cities on the Mediterranean and Red Sea are able now to generate their needs of clean water.

Every citizen is required to better use the available water he has, utilize it in a rational attitude and in the most economical way as the water you save today, you will need tomorrow, he said.

Further, he called for cooperation among various segments of the community i.e. women, youth, elderly, pioneers etc., as we are all in the same boat. Hence, no outside pressure will be successful as far as the domestic front is strong and always abiding by the row.

Pinpointing the importance of the fishery project, he elaborated that all humans need protein; the most efficient way of using water is the fisheries. It is a very important source of protein and relatively cheaper than meat and poultry, he elaborated, noting that fisheries supply Egypt with an increasing percentage of our consumption of protein and that this is very effective as far as cost is concerned and as far as health is concerned, as fish is healthier than red meat.

In the same context, he highlighted that we use our water resources in the lakes and The River Nile and our Mediterranean and the Red Sea, so we better use this water to establish and increase the productivity of these fisheries which is reflected on the prices. We export a great part of the production of fish which means hard currency. Thus the return is far higher than the cost involved in the process, he concluded.

It’s pertinent to mention that Al-Fayrouz Fish Farming project is considered the largest of its kind in the Middle East region, as it is founded on 15,000 feddans. It contributes to the development of the Suez Canal Economic Zone, and Sinai Peninsula through establishing industrial and urban complexes. It provides 10,000 direct and indirect job opportunities in different fields. New technologies in fish farming will be used for the first time in Egypt, such as cage culture, and the level of fish processing will be enhanced to increase the per capital share of fish.

(Daily Debate) is aired from Saturday to Thursday. This episode is presented by Ahmad Nader.
