Expert: Mustakbal Misr greatly caters to agricultural needs

International agricultural expert Dr. Adel El-Ghandour asserted that the Mustakbal Misr Project, recently visited by President Abdel Fattah el Sisi, is one of the most important future projects for Egypt. Lots of developments have been done in this area, he reassured, indicating the example of Alamein el Gedida, which area is bigger than Alexandria city. The plan is to make an industrial city in this location, he said, underlining that this project will reclaim and cultivate about 500 000 acres.

Over the phone to (Cairo Local Time), he added that there is also a big project in the Base of Mohammad Naguib cultivating 100 000 acres for greenhouses. There are high cash crops cultivated for export in that region which create lots of jobs as well as increase the economy and are a very good investment for the private sector.

He shed light on the distinctive location for those projects as it is very close to the Mediterranean where humidity is very appropriate for the crops and will consume less water, the soil is fertile and sandy loam. Further, he mentioned that the projects are also close to places where hand labourers are available.

Dr. Ghandour was proud to say that they use the latest technology in irrigation systems, where less than a third of the amount of water is consumed, while in the greenhouses they use only tenth the amount.

Finally, he confirmed that those kinds of projects serve as bridging the gap between the consumer's demand and the supply with regards to import and export of the agricultural needs.
