Ambassador Gamal Bayoumi, Former Assistant Foreign Minister, said that the upcoming Arab Summit in Algeria is tackling the challenges and problems facing the Arab countries.
Ambassador Bayoumi mentioned, during a phone conversation with the (Arab Affairs) program, that the summit comes amidst instability in many Arab countries such as Yemen, Lebanon, Libya and Syria.
He added that the harmony among Arabs is even more solid than that among Europeans as they talk in one language unlike Europeans who talk in more than 20 languages.
He pointed out that Arab unity and coordination is capable of changing world views as what happened during the last US-Arab summit in Jeddah, when the Arab united front led the United States to accept the two-state solution in Palestine.
Further, he noted that there are three dimensions on the agenda of the summit, the international, the regional and the bilateral.
The ambassador underlined that among the main issues that will be discussed: the repercussions of the Coronavirus as well as the war between Russia and Ukraine on the Arab economy.
He declared that Arabs enjoy good relations with regional groups, such as the European Union, African Union and Latin American countries, and this will help Arabs in gaining these groups' support and exchanging experiences with them.
This episode of (Arab Affairs) was presented by Mona Moselhey.
