Ambassador Ahmed Abdel Latif reaffirmed the pressing need to consolidate efforts to advance security and development in the region
In light of the Cairo International Center for Conflict Resolution, Peacekeeping and Peacebuilding held on November 15-18, Ambassador Ahmed Abdel Latif, CCCPA’s Director General and Executive Director of the Aswan Forum, reaffirmed the pressing need to consolidate efforts to advance security and development in the region. He declared that such a discussion contributes to supporting the upcoming third edition of Aswan Forum on sustaining peace in Africa scheduled in March 2022.
During an Exclusive interview with Taghreed Hussein on the sidelines of a training course the center launched under the title “Challenges and Opportunities for Peace and Development in the Red Sea”, he said that Egypt has made quantum leaps since 2017 in that respect to rally Arab and African countries against transnational threats, trafficking in persons, terrorism, piracy, climate change, within a concerted approach to attain sustainable development.
As for Belgium as Egypt’s potential partner, Ambassador Francois Cornet hailed their cooperation on many levels, asserting Egypt’s innovative diplomatic role in the region. Likewise, Professor of Linguistics and Translation Dr Ahmed Abdel Tawwab highlighted Egypt’s strategic vision in boosting ties with African countries on many aspects, in addition to its strenuous efforts to hold various international events to send a message that “Egypt is a peaceful icon in the region”.
