Ambassador Soad Shalaby, Former Assistant Foreign Minister, said that Egypt is witnessing nowadays the “Golden Era” for women in Which Egyptian women gained more rights and more empowerment.
Amb. Shalaby mentioned, during a phone conversation with the daily program (Breakfast Show), marking the “Egyptian Women’s Day”, that Egypt is celebrating on the 16 of March the beginning of the women’s struggle towards their rights. She added that the day dates back to the 1919revolution, in which women participated in the demonstrations for the first time and some of them were even martyred.
She pointed out that women were given gradually more rights as the right to vote and to be nominated for the elections, and also to the judicial councils. She finally congratulated women diplomats on the occasion of the “Diplomat Day”, saying thatwomen diplomats play a very important role in representing Egypt abroad and defending its interests.
