Maksoud:COVID-19 vaccine free to work but under observation

Former director of Kasr al Ainy Hospital Dr. Nabil Abdel Maksoud shed light on the COVID-19 vaccine saying that the state will provide vaccination for medical staff.

Former director of Kasr al Ainy Hospital Dr. Nabil Abdel Maksoud shed light on the COVID-19 vaccine saying that the state will provide vaccination for medical staff then elderly people and those with chronic diseases.

Over the phone to (Cairo Local Time), he explained that they will immunize people with direct contact with patients as it is an important step. The vaccine will be distributed among the medical staff who have the priority in order to prevent the spread of the virus, he highlighted.

He quoted the Minister of Health and Population Hala Zaid as saying during the press conference she held that the vaccine has been available in the market this year. He added that some side effects might show up so it is important for doctors to be in direct contact with documented records for the vaccinated people, to inform them that if they feel any weird symptoms or signs, they have to report immediately as we are in the period of collecting data. We will follow all our patients, he said.

Dr. Abdel Maksoud explained that all the vaccines work the same way except that of the USA (Pfizer) which plays on the genetics of the virus. This marks a new era of vaccines which could either make a revolution on vaccination making the old ones obsolete, or could be something vain and could never come to light. This will be known in the coming two years.

He informed the people that the available Chinese vaccine should be taken through two doses: the first dose, then the second after four weeks.
