Dr Ramy Aziz, Professor Microbiology, underlined that Egypt proved successful in the clinical trial phase of the anti-COVID 19 vaccine which was given to 18000 people. He asserted that the vaccine efficacy is high 95% and believed that it is low-risk, referring to those who got the virus after being vaccinated. He reassured that 2021 will witness development of “herd immunity” with 70% of the Egyptians to be vaccinated.
In light of the first shipment of Chinese anti-Coronavirus vaccine Egypt received, Dr Azizi hailed over his voice on (Breakfast Show) that Egyptian companies were applied for emergency approval in the United States and others are being in trials, so he believed that Egypt is on the right track in the vaccine-focused race. “We are still combating the virus”, he reaffirmed, calling on the people to take strict precautions in the coming three months to follow up the good examples of New Zealand, South Korea and China.
Further, he attached importance to make deals with several pharmaceutical companies worldwide because within two years many vaccines may be developed and readily accessible to test their effectiveness. It is also essential to reserve enough doses from such deals, he added, highlighting that the urgent need for the vaccines reaches to 20-30 million people per month.
