Mai Gawad Hamada, Ambassador of World Animal Day and Founder of Alexandria Turtles and Wildlife Rescue Team, said that celebrating the World Animal Day (WAD) is an opportunity to spread awareness of Animals rights around the globe.
Hamada mentioned, during an interview with (Nile Cruise) programme, that the world celebrates the WAD on the 4th of October with the aim of improving the welfare of animals.
Moreover, she added that in Egypt, the day is usually marked by various events and activities, for example, seminars on animals’ rights, also vets volunteer to examine pets for free and competitions are held to choose the best looking pets.
She finally stressed the importance of combating sea pollution which affects the marine creatures very badly and she also called for more respect for animals’ rights and better enforcement of penalties against those who harm animals’ health.
