Renta Reck, Ecovillage ambassador of Swaziland and representative of the Global Ecovillage Network of Africa (GEN-Africa) said the vibes of COP 27 are “very good”. She is excited to see what the governments will do regarding climate change and also eager to know how the big organizations are going to apply new concepts to give the world real food.
Interviewed by Nile TV on the sidelines of the UN Climate Change Conference (UNFCCC COP 27), Reck illustrated that eco is a community, whether it is in a city, suburb or rural area, educates and supports people towards self-sufficiency. GEN Africa is a membership organization born in 2012 in Sekem Ecovillage in Egypt. She emphasized that eco village design is for all communities, including youth and elder people, believing that they can work together so as not to feel the impact of climate change and work together for our future generations.
Talking about the sense of awareness and incentives, she mentioned that the most important incentive is that we are going to live longer as real organic human beings in a safe place. “We are going to create a little microclimate that brings us to the next generation and help us survive,” she said.
As a representative of an African country, she has high hopes for COP 27. The African continent is not the spot which are creating the climate disasters, she declared, the Global North is responsible for most of the global carbon dioxide emissions; hoping to address this issue and work together with the international organizations to help Africa.
The interview is conducted by Nile TV Senior Correspondent Taghreed Hussein, President of the channel.
