Dr Mazhar: Egypt, Africa promising integrated market

Former deputy Minister of Industry Dr. Youssef Mazhar said that the African countries are an excellent market for the African goods

Former deputy Minister of Industry Dr. Youssef Mazhar said that the African countries are an excellent market for the African goods.

He stated that Africa is a huge continent with a very big population, compiling countries speaking French and others speaking English apart from the local dialects and the Arabic language. There are competitive countries trying to develop and Egypt helps, he reassured.

Over the phone to (Africa Today), Dr. Mazhar added that now there is a very big organizational setup in Africa and Egypt has gone into it already. Lots of commodities are available in the black continent, he highlighted, giving examples as cocoa, iron, aluminium etc. Wood is available with very high quality like mahogany and oak, he continued, illustrating that these are capable markets which can go to Europe through our country. Egypt can offer the African countries, in return, goods which they badly need, he said.

He commented that the most exchanged goods in the African market go through governmental and private companies, so we can penetrate the continent market either by individual enterprise or by governmental bilateral agreements. He hailed Egypt’s building of dams to produce electricity, developing and establishing roads, and setting up projects in Africa.

He asserted that Egypt collaborated with the UN and secured quantities of equipment for the African hospitals needed to fight the epidemic C0VID-19. The UN, through one of its agencies, booked vaccines for the continent, Mazhar elaborated, noticing that Africa needs hospitals as well and the Egyptian contractors are working on building those facilities there.

For transportation of the goods to and from Europe, he acknowledged that Egypt has a large fleet in the Red Sea, so we can send to East Africa and we have transportation means through the Mediterranean capable of sending stuff to the west as well .

(Africa Today) is aired daily. This episode is presented by Mahesty Rabei.
