Expert of Climate Change and sustainable development Dr. Sayed Sabry said that after the bad consequences of climate change that the world is currently witnessing, important immediate steps must be taken to achieve the cooperation between the developed countries and the developing countries regarding the issue of finance, technology collaboration, technology transfer of the low-carbon technologies, and the training capacity building of the developing countries particularly in Africa, Latin America and south Asia.
Over the phone to (Cairo Local Time), he added that the most essential issue which is the conflict of negotiations among various parties is finance and how to penetrate into financial projects of the country.
Dr. Sabry stated that climate change has affected different fields such as water resources, agriculture, desertification, floods, fires, the extreme temperatures, hurricanes, health and economy of many countries.
He asserted that there are multiple threats regarding food security and agricultural productivity and water resources. The direct impacts of climate change on human health includes increasing the vulnerability of the people to tropical diseases and the lack of food security as the climate change affects the agricultural productivity of crops which results in malnutrition of people, he reassured.
He said that Egypt forecasted the issue of climate change and has taken ambitious steps regarding the institutional arrangements to deal with that issue. It initiated a national strategy which copes with the vision of Egypt 2030 on pursuing the sustainable development plan as well as implementing mega projects such as renewable energy, wind energy, electric cars, a network of roads, water treatment, etc... When we deal correctly with climate change threats, we are achieving sustainable development goals, he uttered.
