Singer Tahoun: Prima la Musica helps me obtain work experience

Opera singer Maryam Tahoun who won first place in a competition in Vienna, Austria, the first operatic city in the world said that she started singing in middle school in 2016 when two classmates used to sing in the opera and she was fascinated by them.

Over the phone to (Cairo Local Time), she added that she passed the audition and started singing in many operas such as Carmen and other operas as a soloist.

She thanked her parents as they supported her despite her artistic path was not easy and her parents were working and they had to get her to every rehearsal despite their busy life but they managed to do it. 

Tahoun said she used to practice about 60 minutes only a day to keep her voice unharmed as too long practice may harm it. She started with warming up exercises and breathing mechanisms and humming for 10 minutes, then she went to lower exercise. She is happy to achieve the first prize in the Austrian competition Prima la Musica which was right before the pandemic.

She took part in an online piano competition which could have taken part in Moscow where she got the first prize. She plans to join university and study singing and become a worldwide opera singer.

She appreciates the Egyptian community who encouraged her and praised her singing and performance that motivated her and helped her get better and better.

She expressed her pride to preserve and develop her Arabic language as it had always been a priority for her parents to teach her mother language and speak Arabic at home and watch Egyptian and Arabic channels and also she has contacts with her friends and family in Egypt and calls them back.
