Dr. Yahya Abdel Kader, Tourism Expert, announced that Egypt is organizing special celebrations on this 4th November in Luxor to mark the centenary of the Egyptologist Howard Carter’s discovery of Tutankhamun’s tomb in the Valley of the Kings.
In a phone call with (Cairo Local Time), Abdel Kader said that the Ministry of Tourism and Antiquities launched the campaign via its website and social media platforms on such an occasion as part of its strategy to promote Egyptian heritage, history, and tourist attractions, hinting that ceremonies are held not only in Egypt but also worldwide.
He stressed that social media is significant in promoting our heritage, referring to his students who agreed that it is not the time for TV anymore. They are following events on different social media platforms, he mentioned, believing that this is the new wave. Dr. Abdel Kader referred to the opera that will be performed in Luxor marking this occasion, describing it as really “genuine and creative performance” because there are top composers, actors and directors that are introducing us to the mysterious and charming saga of the young king; his life, challenge and destiny. This is going to be a great festival, he said, believing that the opera is going to be an addition to the classical festivals of Aida and Magical Flute and other opera shows and concerts that are associated with Egyptian civilization, culture and heritage. He further mentioned some of the most important treasures found in Tutankhamun’s tomb as his golden burial mask and his sarcophagus, both weighing hundreds and ten of solid gold. The tomb created a trend in movies, fashion, design, and literature, he mentioned.
Although some samples of the tomb are in Sharm el-Sheikh Museum, the whole collection will be displayed at the Grand Egyptian Museum that will open soon for the whole world, he declared.
Finally, he hailed the efforts exerted by the Ministry of Tourism and Antiquities to promote for Egypt’s history, pointing to the latest Italian fashion show in Luxor and announcing another international fashion show from Dior in the Giza Pyramids area next December, believing that it is a good idea to promote Egyptian antiquities throughout fashion, sports, concerts, and events as the world will be watching and we will have celebrities and international guests coming to Egypt. The tourism expert also mentioned the 2022 Climate Change Conference (COP27) meeting as a great event where nearly 14 thousands participants will be in Sharm el-Sheikh. The summit is an opportunity for promoting Egypt and boosting tourism, he said, assuming that all ministers are cooperating to make it a successful event. (Cairo Local Time) is aired from Sunday to Thursday. This episode is conducted by Nevine Ramzy.
