Dr. Sayed Al Kholy, Professor of Economics at Ain Shams University, stressed that Sinai was overlooked in the past but President Abdel Fattah e-Sisi made a great difference as the peninsula is now witnessing mega projects pointing to millions spent by the government in developing the infrastructure.
In a phone call with (Nile TV Live Newsroom), he underlined the fact that it is the promising land of Egypt which has opportunities in industry, mining, and tourism. It is the virgin land that has opportunities in industry, mining, and tourism which we can use in order to develop our economic system in the future, he said.
Al-Kholy added that the government is working on improving the lives of the people of Sinai by working on a plan to attract Egyptians to settle in the Sinai Peninsula, by implementing development projects which will help in creating job opportunities. These projects include road, bridge and tunnel projects that will contribute to the development plan of the Suez Canal axis.
The Engineering Authority was assigned, on June 30, 2014, to implement 418 projects at a total cost of 486 billion Egyptian pounds (around $31 billion).
