Winner of two silver medals in the 12th International Invention Fair in Kuwait, Dr. Sarah El Dakhly said that when one has passion for science, he will be motivated to achieve more and more to get more experience.


Pre-Master student in pharmacology in Cairo University told (Cairo Local Time) that she participated in the fair with two projects: the first is the combination of natural products which she tested on rats to treat hepatic toxicity and the second one is a device to treat angina pectoris. She was awarded the two silver medals for her projects.


She added that her projects were unique as there were no devices in the market similar to hers and it is made from natural products as well.


She evaluates the role of the Academy of Scientific Research as it had provided big support to her as it provides all funding for the trip, accomodation and good conditions.


El Dakhly pointed out the obstacles which she faced in her research: one of the most difficult was the funding but they getting solutions now; some chemical materials were not available in Egypt and they had to import them; the sensors of the device are very expensive but she could manage that.


In the same regard, former Minister of Scientific research Nadia Zakhary remarked over her voice that March is announced to be the Month of Science in Egypt and this year is the seventh. It is a sort of cultural activity for science, she said, and presentations are directed towards all audiences to tell the people how to think scientifically. The minister pointed out that the outcomes of the previous years are to continue all the year representing science in an amazing way to students and people. Newly introduced this year are presentations on artificial intelligence and computers, she added.


Egyptian delegation participating in the 12th International Invention Fair in the Middle East held in Kuwait had won seven medals. IIFME has a well-established tradition. The first one was held in 2007, and since then, IIFME has been raising the bar higher and today IIFME is one of the largest specialized exhibitions of inventions in the Middle East. With the participation of more than 43 countries from all over the world, 1,559 inventors, 1,745 inventions, IIFME deemed as the second most significant exhibition worldwide.
