Ambassador Moushira Khattab, Former Minister of Family and Population, said that the big achievement from the June 30 Revolution is regaining and restoring our identity, stressing that Egypt itself is a super power in terms of culture and civilization. Egypt is focusing on its people, she conveyed, believing that it proved successful on both tracks of the foreign policy and the domestic one “our back bone.”
She added, in an interview with (Daily Debate), that the eradication of hepatitis C is another important gain from the revolution, revealing that it is a dream coming true. As for the COVID-19 pandemic, she referred to Egypt’s well-planned strategy to contain the global crisis while pursuing its structural, economic and fiscal reform. The coordination between the government‘s ministries has saved many lives and saved the economy as well, she illustrated.
Khattab mentioned that she has given lectures to members of Egypt’s Civil Service who is moving to the New Administrative Capital. The vision of training 5 million or more before transferring them give you an insight of how much Egypt has changed, she said, adding that we used to build concrete construction but now we concentrate on building human beings who make the development of the country.
The Decent Life presidential initiative is improving the quality of life in 4500 villages across Egypt. Ambassador Moushira Khattab said such an initiative will change the life of people in rural life and the best part about it is the coordination between different stakeholders; the government and the civil society.
Moreover, she stressed the importance of educating the people who will benefit from this initiative and how to be self-sustained. People, she assumed, should graduate from receiving assistance and to be educated how to be self-dependent, adding that we have to encourage the private sector to lead the economic development and create more jobs and inject more money in such initiatives.
Egypt is very promising emerging economy and its biggest capital is the Egyptian people, she reaffirmed. By reforming the labor law and the investment law, she added, we are attracting not only the foreign investors but also the Egyptian ones. The former minister mentioned that France needs to be our leading trade partner and that reflects good confidence in the economy.
She pointed to the importance of women empowerment that will push the Gross domestic product (GDP) to a higher level. “If the number of women equals the number of men in the labor market, the GDP of Egypt will raise more by 34% according to the World Bank,” she said.
Ambassador Moushira Khattab was awarded by the speaker of the Arab Parliament recently for her efforts and contribution. She conveyed that we live in the era of human rights as “people matters” announcing that she is proud to be a member of the Board of Trustees of the Arab Observatory for Human Rights because the Arab region needed to strengthen its legal framework for human rights.
Khattab would like to put the Egyptian institution as a model as she mentioned we have a constitution that puts human rights as one of the foundations of the state. The Arab Observatory for Human Rights will help the Arab states to move on with the human rights agenda, she said, referring to a demand for Arab strategy to enforce human rights on the Arab world and they are working on this.
There are a number of lectures for members of the Arab Parliament to enrich their narrative on human rights, she revealed, referring to the importance of making human rights a public culture that is to make everybody of the Arab population aware of his or her rights which means responsibility and obligation of others and vice versa. This will put us in a better place, she stressed.
President Abdel-Fattah El-Sisi stated on the occasion of the eighth anniversary of the 30 June Revolution that 30 June popular uprising was not just a passing moment in which Egyptians expressed anger, but rather conveyed their most established and noble constants.
